A Day at Bovingdon Pre School
-
Start our day (9-9:30am)
The children arrive at Pre School, they are encouraged to say ‘Goodbyes’ at the front door and walk in independently.
They will hang up their belongings and then join their teachers in the cosy corner for Registration.
-
child initiated play (9:30am-10:15am)
We believe in providing an environment which encourages choice. Resources are set out for the children to explore either independently or with an adult.
During this time we also have table led activities in which we offer a range of learning experiences through adult directed learning.
-
Break (10:30-11:15am)
After we have all worked together to tidy up, we sit down for a story/song.
We then eat our snack, which is generally fresh fruit and vegetables followed by a dry side and cup of milk or water.
We use this opportunity to reflect on our morning so far, and talk about our Pre School Rules.
-
OUTDOOR LEARNING (11:15-12:00pm)
Outdoor learning is a huge part of our ethos at Pre School, children are encouraged to take part in planting, our mud kitchen and discovery trays.
We are very lucky to have a large, partially covered garden meaning we explore the outdoors whatever the weather.
At 12pm our Morning Session is finished and these children will go home.
-
Lunchtime (12:15-1pm)
Following garden time, we wash our hands, independently get our lunch boxes and water bottles before finding a place to sit at the lunch table to eat with our friends!
We are encouraged to wait for our friends before going of to play, lunch is a social time where we all come together.
Lunch club children will go home at 1pm.
-
child initiated play (1:15pm-2pm)
This is a similar set up to our AM session. The children are able to explore the resoucrces and activities on offer either independently or with an adult.
We will begin to pack away towards the end of the day.
-
community outreach (2:15-2:45pm)
We have so many unique learning opportunities on our doorstep, these include the library, shops, park and wonder walks around the community. we try to fit these in weekly to ensure all children are benefiting from being members of such a great community!
If we are not out exploring our wonderful community we will be in our garden.
-
End our day (2:55-3pm)
We are required to vacate the Memorial Hall by 3pm Monday-Friday, the children will be ready for collection at 2:55pm from the main door.
